I believe there is much to be learned from approaching our cultural issues and historical institutions through a satirical and critical viewpoint. I feel it is my duty as an artist to express my content and discontent with societies norms, values, and treatment of its people. My work will always have an air of social consciousness about it, even if that air is buried in satire. Among these ideas, I believe that:
My art should be didactic.
My art shouldn't take itself 'too seriously'.
My art shouldn't fear occasionally being serious.
My art should connect people using humor and comedy.
My art should highlight social injustice and entice social change.
My art should try to connect different ideas in new and interesting ways.
My art should use humor to provoke, inspire, interest, and move an audience.
My art should convey a message, even if that message is the absence of a message.
My art should attempt to approach different perspectives around preconceived ideas.
My art should seek to discover comedy where there wasn't comedy before.
My art should embrace the organic connections in the artistic process.
My art should come from an emotional & intellectual point of view.
My art should highlight its own imperfections, not hide them.
My art should have a polished, professional look.
My art should be partially improvisational.
My art should occasionally break its own form.
My art will entertain me.
